How to Set a Backup Email Address for Account Recovery

Your primary email address is central to your Namhost account. We use it for login verification, invoices, domain notices and support. If you lose access to it, for example because a domain expired, an employee left or a mailbox was closed, recovering your account can be difficult.

A backup email address gives our administrators a second, verified way to confirm your identity and help you regain access.

We recommend using a backup address on a different domain and provider from your primary email. For example, if your primary email is on your business domain, use a personal Gmail or Outlook address as the backup.

Steps to set a backup email address
  1. Log in to your Namhost account at https://www.namhost.com/login
  2. Go to Settings and select Change Backup E-mail Address
  3. A verification code will be sent to your primary email address. Enter it and click Submit
  4. Enter your new backup email address and click Submit
  5. A second verification code will be sent to the backup address. Enter it and click Submit

Once verified, you'll see the message Backup email updated successfully.

Important to note
  • Both addresses must be verified, which confirms that you control each one
  • If you entered the wrong backup address, click Wrong email? Change it to start again
  • The backup email is used for account recovery. It doesn't replace your primary email for day-to-day notifications
  • Check your backup email from time to time to make sure it is still active
